Coyote Coast
Summer Leadership Project
Overview
The Coyote Coast Leadership Project (CCLP) offers a unique day program for teens ages 13-17 with atypical neurological development. Each three-week session will provide students with opportunities to participate in a variety of service-learning projects which incorporate team-building and problem-solving exercises. Students in CCLP take an active role in the planning and implementation of each project. Interactive social skills groups allow students to gain new skills in an engaging setting, using experiential activities. Hiking trips, indoor rock climbing, outdoor ecology lessons and field trips to local attractions such as the California Academy of Sciences and the Steinhart Aquarium are also important components of the program. Depending on enrollment numbers, transportation may be available.
Student Profile
CCLP is a co-ed program serving youth from the San Francisco, Marin & East Bay Communities. Students in the program have generally experienced social challenges and often have diagnoses such as Aspergers Syndrome, ADHD and High-Functioning Autism. Student/Staff ratio is no greater than 4:1. Program counselors have extensive experience working with high-needs adolescents. The registration process includes in-person screening and assessment. The program is not designed to serve clients with severe behavioral disorders.
